Seeking Mentors for 5G Use Case Labs Across India
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) invites interests from individuals to serve as mentors for 100 5G Use Case Labs, launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister during India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2023. These labs are located in premier educational institutions across India, designed to foster innovation, research, and skills development in 5G technologies.
Objective
• Provide technical guidance and domain expertise to 5G lab users.
• Foster innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in 5G and related technologies.
• Promote industry–academia collaboration to build a future-ready workforce and solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Renowned academicians, industry professionals, or researchers with proven expertise in 5G or related fields.
Scope of Engagement / Expectations
• Guide students and researchers in identifying and solving industry-relevant 5G challenges.
• Support ideation of use cases (e.g., smart agriculture, connected vehicles, healthcare, etc.).
• Mentor prototype development and validation efforts.
• Support paper publications and patent filings.
• Share insights on global 5G trends tailored to Indian needs.
• Interact regularly with institutes for improving R&D initiatives.
• Support technical mentoring in lab-level and inter-college competitions.
Terms and Conditions
1. Engagement: Voluntary (pro bono); minimum 4 hours/month of mentoring.
2. Confidentiality: Sensitive data and IP remain with respective institutions.
3. Conflict of Interest: Mentors must disclose and avoid conflicts.
4. Code of Conduct: Mentors are expected to maintain professionalism and ethics.
5. Reporting: Periodic updates to DoT or designated representatives.
6. Termination: DoT may terminate engagement for non-compliance or valid reasons.
7. Recognition: Mentors will be appreciated and recognized by the Government of India.
