Seeking Mentors for 5G Use Case Labs Across India

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) invites interests from individuals to serve as mentors for 100 5G Use Case Labs, which were launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister during the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2023. These labs are established in premier educational institutions across India to foster innovation, research, and skill development in 5G technologies.

Objective
  • Provide technical guidance and domain expertise to users of these 5G Use Case Labs.
  • Foster innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in 5G and related technologies.
  • Enhance industry-academia collaboration to develop future-ready solutions and workforce.
Eligibility Criteria

Renowned academicians, industry professionals, or researchers with proven expertise in 5G technologies or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Scope of Engagement / Expectations
  • Assist students and researchers in framing industry-relevant problems and identifying solutions using 5G capabilities.
  • Facilitate ideation and development of 5G use cases such as healthcare, smart agriculture, connected vehicles, etc.
  • Mentor students in developing and validating prototypes.
  • Guide researchers in publishing research papers and filing patents.
  • Provide insights on global 5G advancements relevant to the Indian context.
  • Interact regularly with lab users and institutions for continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical support during lab-level competitions and R&D initiatives.
Terms and Conditions for Selected Mentors
  1. Engagement Terms: Voluntary (pro bono), with a minimum of 4 hours/month interaction.
  2. Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality; IP remains with institutions.
  3. Conflict of Interest: Must disclose and avoid any conflicts.
  4. Code of Conduct: Maintain professionalism and ethical behavior.
  5. Reporting and Feedback: Provide regular updates and feedback.
  6. Termination: DoT reserves the right to terminate for non-compliance.
  7. Recognition: Mentors will be acknowledged by the Government of India at appropriate forums.
